You can learn and work with us on the job, where you will be supported by highly experienced captain-instructors who will mentor you. Even if you already work for UniBarge and have ambitions to move from the office to a job on board one of our inland barges (or vice versa), you will have the opportunity to make that move.

Safety and high quality standards

Safety always comes first at UniBarge, both for our employees and the environment. We work according to strict quality standards and adhere to detailed safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) procedures. This means that everything is recorded and executed to the highest standards. Our captains work closely with the charterers to transport cargo safely and on schedule.

A company culture where everyone feels at home

We have a close-knit and supportive company culture where everyone quickly feels welcome, whether you work at our offices in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht in the Netherlands or Baar in Switzerland, or on board one of our inland barges. Freedom and space for ideas are at the heart of our company. We value input and initiatives that contribute to our common goals. This is how we grow together and continue making UniBarge better and more exceptional.

Our office teams

Our offices are state of the art with a modern design to foster collaboration and innovation. At the office, we encourage employees to share lunch breaks, which allows them to chat and get to know each other better. There are also great places to have lunch or a break outside the premises. If you work in an office in the Netherlands, we also offer a paid gym membership at a neighbouring company.

In addition, we organise company parties and outings to foster cooperation and team spirit, so you can get to know each other and perform even better as a team.

Our crews on board

Our inland barges offer professional and welcoming interiors and are fully equipped to create a pleasant work environment. Safety is a top priority on board and if you are new to the job, our experienced crew have all the know-how to get you fully up to speed with working on board an inland barge.

Our office staff and crew members are in close contact with each other when needed, giving our team a close and strong bond. This interaction means that we can always rely on each other’s knowledge and support. There is an open and collegial atmosphere where everyone feels valued. If you come to work on board one of our inland barges, you will be employed by our Swiss company, which comes with additional financial benefits. The compensation for our employees, both at the office and on board our inland barges, is more than competitive.

At UniBarge, we make sure that new colleagues quickly feel welcome. Our onboarding programme will introduce you to our working methods, colleagues and unique company culture. In other words, you will be fully integrated and ready to get started in no time!
